“Thousand Youth Talents Program” Professor Hualing Zeng joined ICQD as a new center member in October, 2016. Prof. Zeng has made a series of important achievements on quantum materials for optical physics and related phenomena. His joining will further enhance the center's research strengths in the focused areas, and will also enrich the center's culture in synergistic research and education.
Prof. Hualing Zeng received his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Hong Kong in 2011, where he did postdoctoral research from 2011 to 2013. Now he is a Professor of the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale (HFNL) at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He has been doing research on light matter interaction in low-dimensional systems, including excitonic effect in 1D SWNT and optical valley and spin polarization in 2D Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDCs). Currently, his research focuses on nano-optics in novel 2D semiconductors, and the optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) technique based on nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond.
